Donovan Mitchell is a professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of
the National Basketball Association. He was born in 1997 and played his college
career at Louisville. He has been playing professionally since 2017.
Mitchell was born on October 13, 1997 to parents Julie and Donovan Mitchell
Sr. His mother’s name is Julie and he has a father named Donovan Sr. His mother
is white and his father is black. He grew up in New York City and attended
school at LaGuardia High School, where he began playing basketball for the
school team as well as AAU teams like NYC Gauchos.
He attended college at Louisville University before being drafted by the
Utah Jazz with 13th pick of 2017 NBA draft
Born on October 26th, 1997 in New York City, Mitchell was raised by a single
mother and never knew his father. He was a standout player at Greenwich High
School in Connecticut where he led the team to three consecutive state
championships. He then went on to play for the University of Louisville where
he won the MVP award in 2017 and 2018.
Mitchell is currently playing for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball
Association (NBA). He was selected 13th overall by the Denver Nuggets during
the 2017 NBA draft but was traded to Utah on July 7th, 2017.

multiple jobs to support them. She would often have to wake up at 4am in order
to get Donovan to school on time, and then go back home to sleep for a few
hours before going back out again.
He was named to the 2018 NBA All-Rookie First Team and finished second in
Rookie of the Year voting behind Ben Simmons.
Donovan Mitchell has been recognized as one of the most promising young
players in today’s game and is on his way to becoming one of the best scorers
in NBA history.
